Emergency kits along with sawyer water filter and solar lamps were distributed to the flood affected families of Chhipaharmai Rural Municipality of Parsa district in partnership with Sanskriti- a junction for creative youths of Parsa. 40 families of Jaimanglapur ward of the Rural Municipality received the kits.
Prepared with financial help from The Water Bearers and The World Is My Country Foundation each relief kit were packed with 4 fleece blankets, first aid kit, freedom kit especially prepared for women, water filter set, solar lamp, bucket, mug, emergency bag among others. Speaking at the event the chairman of Chhiapaharmai Rural Municipality said the relief was new and different from the regular items they have received during past floods and hurricanes. He said, ‘We receive relief from various organizations during floods and hurricanes every year, but these are different and new. The victims can use it for a longer period of time and will be much needed during any natural calamity.’
Similarly, Jane Briton from The Water Bearers demonstrated the proper use of water filter. Samartha Nepal Director Priyasha Maharjan, along with other volunteers demonstrated the use of solar Lamps and menstural freedom kits to the women in the community. The event was presided by Shailee Chuadhary, chairman of Sanskriti, Sagar Parajuli and Surabhi Regmi from Samartha Nepal.
